Aida Split

This one-minute video combines a found split screen image with a voiceover of Mina Loy’s poem “There is no Life or Death” (ca. 1914). I shot the footage in Vienna and later recorded the poem in my Brooklyn studio with the window open onto the traffic outside. By gathering spatially and temporally disparate events in the space of the video the piece aims at restaging questions such as: Are there points of view, contexts, and attitudes, through which we can begin to realize our desire to for change in the everyday?
