Sequins on felt
My question mark edition was inspired by a picture of a 1920s Berlin a cabaret dancer. The top of the dancer's costume is adorned with a glittering question mark, with the period covering the belly button, the crotch is covered by a mask from which strings of beads spill toward the floor. In my sequined wall piece, gender play is no longer attached to a specific body, but addresses everyone in the room. I found the title for this piece in Rainer Maria Rilke's writing.
